Stockinger switches to Status for 2012

Marlon Stockinger will switch to GP3 front-runners Status for his second campaign in the series.

The Filipino racer competed for the Atech CRS squad last year, failing to score a single point on his way to 29th in the drivers' standings.

In 2012 he will hope to enjoy improved results with Irish squad Status, who ran 2010 championship runner-up Robert Wickens and scored race wins last season thanks to Alexander Sims and Antonio Felix da Costa.

"The winter tests went very well and we were always consistently in the top five, which is crucial in such a competitive championship as GP3," said Stockinger.

"I have no doubt that the team and I can put together a strong campaign, and we'll be looking to run at the top of the field."

"Marlon showed well in testing, and we fully expect him to be challenging at the front of the field this year," added team boss Teddy Yip.

"Experience also counts in the GP3 Series, and going into his second year Marlon is consistent and knows how to get the best out of the car and tyres."
