FBMW: Championship runner-up Harvey nominated for McLaren-Autosport award.

Formula BMW Europe championship runner-up Jack Harvey is among six nominees for the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Award.

The 17 year-old fought a close battle for the FBMW crown with Josef Frijns, narrowly missing out to the Dutchman at the Monza season finale.

But Harvey impressed in what was only his second year in cars, claiming seven wins and eight pole positions for the Fortec team. The Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver has already firmed up his plans for 2011, having struck a deal to contest the British F3 championship with the crack Carlin outfit.

Harvey will be among the favourites to scoop the award, but faces competition from Formula Renault UK racers Lewis Williamson and Tom Blomqvist, British Formula Ford runner-up Scott Malvern, Formula Palmer Audi title-chaser Nigel Moore and Formula Renault Eurocup man Luciano Bacheta. The nominees will test a variety of cars in mid-November, with the eventual winner announced at the annual Autosport Awards in December.

Former winners include F1 world champion Jenson Button, two-time Indycar and Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti, and multiple F1 racewinner David Coulthard.
