FBMW: Sainz Jr joins Red Bull programme

Carloz Sainz Jr, son of the two-time WRC champion and 2010 Dakar Rally winner, has been signed by the Red Bull junior driver programme.

The 15-year-old karting graduate will compete in his first full season of cars in the F1-supporting Formula BMW Europe series this season driving for reigning champions Eurointernational.

Sainz Jr won the KF3 Monaco Kart Cup and was second in the European Championship in 2009. He also clinched the Asia-Pacific Championship in 2008.

He will join fellow Red Bull junior Daniil Kvyat at Eurointernational next season. The Russian driver also makes the graduation from karting having finished third, just behind Sainz Jr, in the KF3 European Championship. He also won the South Garda Winter Cup and Trofeo Andrea Margutti last season.
