F.BMW: Harvey and Frijns set for Monza decider.

The Formula BMW Europe title will be decided at Monza this weekend, with Jack Harvey and Robin Frijns separated by just seven points as the series heads for its final round.

Fortec driver Harvey currently heads his Dutch rival, but Frijns (Josef Kaufmann Racing) is the form man, having reduced the points gap between the two from 23 to seven last time out at Spa. With 62 points still to be won the successor to 2009 champion Felipe Nasr is far from certain.

Third in the championship also remains fiercely contested, with Mucke Motorsport’s Timmy Hansen just five points clear of Carlos Sainz Jr (Eurointernational). The Spaniard has already claimed this year’s rookie cup, and could follow that up with a top-three spot in the drivers’ standings should he get the better of Hansen in Italy.

The Italian event sees the series running as part of the Formula One support package, with races being held early on Saturday and Sunday morning. It will also be the last ever Formula BMW Europe event, as the German manufacturer has decided not to continue the series in 2011.
