Bulgarian motorsport ambassador Kralev returns to F2

38-year-old Bulgarian racer Plamen Kralev will remain in Formula Two for a third successive season in 2012.

The Sofia-born veteran scored a single point in both 2010 and '11 and has now committed to another campaign in the pan-European junior series. Kralev races as 'Bulgaria's official motorsport ambassador', a post he was assigned to in 2008 by the country's National Tourism Agency.

"I am pleased to stay for my third year in F2," commented Kralev. "I believe this is the best championship for me that gives me an opportunity to build on my driving skills.

"With new Yokohama tyres I hope to deliver and fight regularly in the points and earn top 10 positions."

Kralev, who did not take up motorsport until his mid-thirties, embarked on an unlikely GP2 Asia campaign with Italian squad Trident in 2009. He gained immediate attention for both his age relative to the rest of the grid and subsequently qualified some seven seconds off pole at the opening round.
