Norisring replaces Paul Ricard British F3 date

This season’s British F3 campaign will include a trip to the Norisring in Germany the championship has confirmed after a late change of venue.

The joint-round with the F3 Euro Series on June 29 – July 1 comes at the expense of Paul Ricard in France which had been scheduled to host the domestic championship over the same weekend.

Nuremberg’s street circuit is the venue for the second of three joint British F3/Euro Series rounds in 2012 after races counting towards the FIA’s new European Formula 3 Championship had already been confirmed for Pau in three weeks time and Spa in late July.

Norisring’s original date as a Euro Series-only event ensures that British F3 teams will adopt the host championship’s regulations and official suppliers in Germany.

British championship general manager Lisa Crampton said the move was a sensible decision that had the best interests of F3 at heart.

“This change of date has been agreed after discussions between ourselves, the British and Euro Series teams and the FIA, and it has been agreed that it is a mutually beneficial arrangement,” she said. “We are pleased to be able to assist the new European series in this way.”

Peter Briggs of teams organisation FOTA added: “The Norisring event is a fantastic spectacle and it will be great to be a part of it. The British teams are fully behind it.”

It’s a rather unusual sound to bear in the immediate aftermath of a race and not the most welcome. Not welcome at all in fact.
