Lynn sticks with Fortec for British F3 graduation

Formula Renault 2.0 UK champion Alex Lynn will remain with Fortec Motorsports for his graduation to British Formula Three next season.

The 18-year-old dominated the Renault series this year, scoring 12 wins on his way to the title. His step up to F3 coincides with the introduction of new machinery in the category.

“I think my decision to go with Fortec will prove to be the right one, especially as my engineer from Formula Renault, Russell Dixon, is moving up with me,” commented Lynn.

“As long as we put in the same effort and hard work that we have this year, there’s no reason why we can’t challenge the boys at Carlin who have won the title for the past four years.”

Fortec F3 boss Mick Kouros added that he was pleased to be keeping Lynn on board for the youngster’s next step on the motorsport ladder.

“Alex has been with the Fortec family for two years now and it’s great to have him on board for a third season,” said Kouros. “He has had great preparation in Formula Renault and he will more than cope with the step up to F3.”

Fortec’s best-placed driver in the 2011 British F3 campaign was Northern Irishman Will Buller, who ended the season as the only non-Carlin racer in the top-six of the drivers’ standings.

As the noise settled down, colleagues, well-wishers and friends moved from the podium, while Leicestershire skies began to rain down.

It’s a rather unusual sound to bear in the immediate aftermath of a race and not the most welcome. Not welcome at all in fact.
