British F3 to make Pau return for 2012

British F3 will return to iconic street circuit Pau next season following a six-year absence from the French venue.

Pau represents one of three overseas trips for the series, with Germany’s Nurburgring and Belgian favourite Spa-Francorchamps also on the calendar. The French circuit formed part of this year’s F3 International Trophy, with several British squads in attendance.

“It’s a fantastic track,” Double R boss Anthony Hieatt told Motorsort News. “We loved it, but things were a bit hectic the last time we went there with the British series because there were 26 cars and they didn’t split the qualifying sessions. If it’s organised properly it’ll work really well.”

“Going back to Pau is an important thing,” commented series boss Lisa Crampton. “It offers drivers in the British F3 the chance to sample a street track before the end-of-season race at Macau.”

The series has also confirmed that all three races contested over a weekend will count for full points in 2012, race two having previously seen half points awarded.

As the noise settled down, colleagues, well-wishers and friends moved from the podium, while Leicestershire skies began to rain down.

It’s a rather unusual sound to bear in the immediate aftermath of a race and not the most welcome. Not welcome at all in fact.
