West-Tec add La Rocca to F3 Open squad

Team West-Tec have added Venezuelan racer Roberto La Rocca to their European F3 Open line-up for the 2012 campaign.

The 18-year-old Venezuelan will pilot a Dallara F312 from round three at Spa Francorchamps onwards. He will dovetail his European commitments with an assault on the F2000 Championship Series in the United States.

"I am very pleased to be racing in Formula 3 in 2012, and very happy to be joining a team such as Team West-Tec, who were highly recommended," commented La Rocca

"I want to progress my career and coming to race with the leading team in a competitive F3 series in Europe is the best way to do that," he added.

West Tec John Miller said he was pleased to have secured La Rocca's signature: "We are delighted to welcome Roberto to the team, and are very much looking forward to working with him.

"He has already managed to get some decent F3 experience in Brazil, albeit in the slightly older F308, and we received very good reports of him from there, so we became keen to seal his signing!

"He will be combining Formula 3 with his racing in the USA, so he won’t be able to start with us until our third race weekend at Spa, but I am sure he will catch up quickly and challenge at the front," concluded Miller.

La Rocca joins Manu Bejarano and Sam Dejonghe in campaigning top class machinery for the British squad, who will also field cars in the Copa class for Jordan Oon and Luca Orlandi. The new season gets underway at Portimao on April 29.
