FFord: Aquila planning further UK outings

The Danish-built Aquila Formula Ford car is planning further outings in the British championship this season.

The car made its UK debut in the recent races at Knockhill and made a solid debut, scoring a best finish of tenth at the Scottish circuit in the highly competitive multi-marque series.

Aquila Formula Ford boss Justin Hoskins as now revealed that the FD1 chassis will appear again in 2009 after its encouraging debut.

“We went into the races with limited running beforehand and lost a lot of the test session to a recurring misfire but overall we were delighted with its performance,” he said.

“Aquila wants to see this car race in the UK. It can win as many times as it likes in Denmark, but until the car wins in the UK it is still unproven, so getting it back out is our main priority.”

Scottish racer Joe Tanner took on the driving duties for the car’s debut at his home circuit, but Hoskins revealed another driver is set to take over upon the car’s return.

“We have another driver lined-up to test the car next week,” he confirmed.
