F.Ford: Pye eyeing 2011 British F3 seat

MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain frontrunner Scott Pye is targeting a seat in British F3 next season.

The 20-year-old Australian currently sits second in the standings after taking seven victories this year – five more than any other driver – in his Jamun Racing-run Mygale.

And Pye believes with the right preparation he can repeat that form in the country’s premier slicks and wings category.

“I need to graduate as soon as possible and I have been in talks with some of the teams in F3 already,” he told Motorsport News. “I know it will be a big step but I think with a decent test programme over the winter there is no reason why I couldn’t be on the pace.”

Ex-F1 and Le Mans racer Perry McCarthy, who is managing Pye’s career, added: “Scot’s record this season has been phenomenal and going straight to F3 is the logical thing to do.”
