FFord: New squad to join grid in 2010

The MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain grid is set to be boosted by the arrival of a new two-car team in 2010.

The new squad, which will run under the Harkesport banner, will be spearheaded by experienced engineer Roger Parkes, who has teamed up with regular Formula Ford racer Mark Harper.

Parkes has previous Formula Ford experience from a spell engineering for Nexa Racing, and has also worked in British F3 and the Le Mans Series. He explained that the team has yet to make a choice on chassis supply.

“We have a Van Diemen at the moment and I have close ties with them, but we’re keeping our options open,” he said.

While Harper will fill one of the seats, Parkes is hoping the second will be filled by a young up-and-coming racer.

“We’ve got a couple of guys interest already,” he said. “After the Zetec situation the category lost direction. Now it is back on track.”
