FFord: Champions Jamun sign Suzuki Swift racer Slaghekke

Dutch teenager Jeroen Slaghekke has signed for reigning Formula Ford GB champions Jamun Racing for the 2010 season.

The 17-year-old finished third in the Dutch Suzuki Swift Cup last season and is Jamun’s second confirmed driver alongside second year pilot Josh Hill.

“I’m very happy to sign for Jamun Racing,” said Slaghekke. “After two successful, learning seasons in the Suzuki Swift Cup, I have made the conscious decision to switch to formula racing.

“Jamun is a very professional team and they will also supply me with a personal driver coach, which is very important. I trust that they can help my development as a driver.

“The British Formula Ford championship offers the best value for money and has large grids and lots of races at some important circuits. I would be happy with a top five finish in the championship.”

Slaghekke has already tested one of the teams Mygale chassis and impressed Jamun boss James Mundy.

“Jeroen did three days of testing with us before Christmas and showed a lot of potential,” he said. “He is very inexperienced in single seaters but got settled in straight away and his car control was fantastic.

“Running alongside a driver like Josh will help him learn.”

Jamun has also been linked with a deal to run GP Shootout winners Tio Ellinas and Dani Domit in Formula Ford this season.
