Race Car Consultants confirm EcoBoost entry

Race Car Consultants has become the first new team to enter next season’s Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain with an all-new EcoBoost chassis.

Former Formula Ford racer and Fiesta champion David Ellesley will head up the outfit which will run one of the new cars for 20-year-old rookie Ryan Cullen. An ex-Dan de Zille Mygale, eligible for the Duratec class, has also been acquired although no driver announced.

Ellseley, who won the Ford Fiesta championship in 2009 before moving into team management, confirmed Cullen would sample the Duratec machine before moving on to the new chassis.

“Ryan has some karting experience but has never raced a car before,” he said. “The plan is to get him up to speed with the Duratec car in the coming weeks and then for him to transfer to the new car when that is ready. It’s a great opportunity for me and for my team and Ryan shows a lot of promise.”

Cullen added: “I am looking forward to it. I’m told that Formula Ford is the place to start and the new car looks amazing.”

The news comes hot on the heels of front-running squad JTR confirming it will enter three EcoBoost cars in 2012, while reigning champions Jamun Racing, who have confirmed Jake Cook for next season, are expected to field four.
