FFord: Karter Tucker impresses Fluid boss

Fluid Motorsport boss, Lindsay Allen, has praised karter James Tucker after his first Formula Ford test last week.

The 2009 MSA British Superkart Championship runner-up got behind the wheel of one of the team’s Van Diemen chassis at Oulton Park with his pace prompting Allen to suggest that the 20-year-old has the potential to be fight for wins in his rookie season.

“James adapted to the car really well and was very impressive considering it was his first test in a car,” Allen told Motorsport News.

“Ford is a big jump from Superkarts and it’s far more technical, but it’s clear his karting experience has given him excellent racecraft. With time he could run at the front.”

The Staffordshire-based Tucker won the prestigious British Superkart Grand Prix last year and, while he has yet to complete his 2010 deal, has made graduating to Formula Ford his number one priority this year.

“Getting into Formula Ford is my priority and Fluid is definitely the favoured option,” he said.

“The cars are different from a Superkart because you have to be more controlled on the throttle and steering into corners. You’d wrestle a superkart flat-out.”
