F.Ford: Ginetta ace steps up to Formula Ford for 2010

Jake Cook will make his single seater debut for Getem Racing this season after agreeing a deal with the MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain squad.

The 16 year-old comes into the series highly-rated after finishing as runner-up to Sarah Moore in the hugely competitive Ginetta Junior championship, both claiming pole position and winning eight times over the course of his maiden year in cars.

The Sheffield racer will have an updated Mygale SJ07 chassis at his disposal throughout 2010, although a question mark still remains as to whether he will tackle the Championship or Scholarship Class after testing for the squad at Brands Hatch recently.

Getem team boss Martin Down told Motorsport News: “We got talking when we met him at the sampler day in November and it was clear he wanted the move to Ford.

“His pace was good for only his second run in the car and he has a maturity that’s not usually associated with drivers of that age. With a bit more time in the car he can easily be successful in Formula Ford.”
