WRC: FIA announce support series entries

The FIA has revealed the 21 drivers and teams registered for the World Rally Championship’s three support series in 2010.

11 entries have been made for the Production Car WRC, with the new WRC Cup for S2000 machinery attracting six teams and the Junior World Rally Championship having four entries lodged so far. The FIA will consider further entries until its closing dates in April.

Entries to P-WRC have grown this season due to the five Pirelli Star Drivers who have been included, although none will make their seasonal debuts until Rally Finland in August. Four drivers will begin their campaigns next month in the season opener in Sweden, with two more joining the fray in the second round in Mexico.

The S-WRC also begins in Sweden, with drivers having to contest seven of the slated ten rounds. Four drivers will begin their campaigns next month. The only rally to have attracted all six teams is the season-ending Rally GB.

The six-round J-WRC has received a record low entry for the series. Three of the four teams will begin their year in the season opening Turkish rally.

Mini in doubt - 03/02 - 10:01

Despite an impressive runner-up result on the Monte-Carlo Rally, Mini’s days in the WRC may be numbered.

Championship leader and the only non-Scandinavian winner of Rally Sweden, Sébastien Loeb heads a massive list of entrants for the running of the only snow round on the calendar.

Sébastien Loeb never turned a wheel wrong over the five days taking Rally Monte-Carlo to score his 68th WRC victory. The eight-time world champion capped off a perfect week with the Power Stage win and a maximum 28 points.

Sébastien Loeb is one stage away from his 6th Rally Monte-Carlo Rally success and the early lead in the 2012 WRC.
