WRC:SS3 Three down, three to Solberg


Petter Solberg has swept the three morning stages in Rally Mexico.


Petter Solberg’s fine start to the second round of the season continued in SS3, El Cubilete, 18.87kms, with a time three seconds quicker than Sébastien Ogier. Bith are making the most of starting behind the leaders. 
 
Speaking of the leaders, Sébastien Loeb is getting the better of Mikko Hirvonen. The Frenchman went third best on SS3, 3.3s slower than Solberg’s CR WRC, but he put 7.6s on Hirvonen and is now third overall. Dani Sordo was fourth in the stage and is now fourth in the classification. Jari-Matti Latvala is the highest placed Ford, 5th overall at 38.8s, 15.3s ahead of M-Sport leader Hirvonen. The RS Focus’ of Henning Solberg, Matthew Wilson, Ken Block and Freerico Villagra complete the top ten heading into the first super special of the day.

Despite an impressive runner-up result on the Monte-Carlo Rally, Mini’s days in the WRC may be numbered.

Championship leader and the only non-Scandinavian winner of Rally Sweden, Sébastien Loeb heads a massive list of entrants for the running of the only snow round on the calendar.

Sébastien Loeb never turned a wheel wrong over the five days taking Rally Monte-Carlo to score his 68th WRC victory. The eight-time world champion capped off a perfect week with the Power Stage win and a maximum 28 points.

Sébastien Loeb is one stage away from his 6th Rally Monte-Carlo Rally success and the early lead in the 2012 WRC.
