CARRALLYTRANSAFRICAINE

TAC fifth leg

The 2008 Trans-African Classic caravan made its way from Rich to Tagounite, Morocco on Tuesday.

After a nearly 600km liaison section from late Monday through early Tuesday, the teams finally made it to the bivouac at Rich at the 3am, Tuesday morning. Just a few hours later, they were 150kms south at the Chebbi erg, near the village of Merzouga.

The first real difficulty of the rally awaited them with nearly 1000kms to cover without a break. On the programme were the infamous dunes of the Chebbi erg, followed by almost 250kms of demanding and at times chaotic tracks as they flirted with the Algerian border as they continued to make their way to the bivouac at Tagounite.
