100-driver entry for British Rallycross opener

More than 100 drivers are set to tackle the opening round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill this weekend. The event, LIVE on Motors TV on Sunday, will also include a round of the Belgian Rallycross Championship, bringing a host of European-based racers to the UK.

Alongside the main MSA British Championship for Supercars, the event will be supported by the MSA and Belgian Supernational series, the Belgian S1600 category and the Hot Hatch, Swift Sport, RX1500, BMW Mini and Junior Rallycross championships.

In the premier Supercar category an intriguing battle is set to take place as reigning champion Pat Doran returns to defend his title having replaced his Ford Fiesta with a Focus Supercar.

Doran’s former charger is now in the hands of reigning Supernational champion Julian Godfrey, who steps up to the Supercar class for the first time, while David Binks, third last season, is also back for a title assault.

Colin Anson will give his Ford Ka a debut outing, while European Rallycross Championship regular Liam Doran is one of several ERC regulars making one-off outings.
