BRC: Hill to enter new Mitsubishi Lancer E10

Steve Hill will compete with his new Mitsubishi Lancer E10 in the British Rallycross Championship in 2010.

The Aylesbury-based driver will become the first man to use the Lancer E10 in the disciplines after his preparation firm built the car over the last nine months.

Hill will switch from his E9 in which he finished third in the standings in 2009.

“It’s 99 per cent finished and it is a very different car from the E9,” Hill told Motorsport News after unveiling the machine at the Autosport Show last weekend.

“We had to get a bespoke gearbox to fit in the car because of the transverse engine, but it’s putting out about 600bhp. I want to win the championship and to do that I need to be in a modern car.”

Hill may also use the car in selected European Rallycross Championship rounds.

“The car complies with the ERC rules and I want to go and try a few events in Europe, but I won’t do that until I’m completely happy that the car is reliable and fast.”
