Scott seals second with Croft victoryAndy Scott came out on top in the battle for runner-up spot in this season’s British Rallycross Championship by winning the final round at Croft. The Dumfries driver had given himself a great chance of prevailing in the four-way fight for second in the standings by qualifying on pole for the A final.
But it was newly-crowned champion Julian Godfrey who made the best start, vaulting ahead of the Ford Focus while fellow front-row starter David Binks was also in close company.
Despite being relived of pressure after wrapping up the title last time out, Godfrey was fortunate to retain the lead at the start of lap two after an excursion through the turn one gravel.
And having survived his scare, the Fiesta driver looked on course to wrap up another victory in 2011. Scott had other ideas though and as the pair neared the final corner he was able to run the newly-crowned champ wide to steal the lead. Binks also followed him through to set up a mad dash for the line, the Fiesta triumphing by only 0.063sec.
Godfrey came home third ahead of Kevin Procter, outgoing champion Pat Doran and guest driver Per Eklund.
