Doran gets ex-Isachsen Focus for BRC

Reigning British Rallycross Champion Pat Doran will return to the series in 2011 at the wheel of a Ford Focus previously raced by current European champion Sverre Isachsen.

Doran clinched the British title in 2009 and 2010 in a Ford Fiesta, but chose to lease the car to rival Julian Godfrey this year. That move left the veteran without a ride in 2011, but he has ended speculation that he wouldn’t defend his crown by snapping up the Focus campaigned by Isachsen in the ERC until 2007.

“Mechanically the car is more or less the same as the newer Focus models,” Doran told Motorsport News. “The dampers are not the newest specification, but that’s not such an issue in the UK tracks because we don’t have jumps.

“The car is perfect for me to build on and I will hopefully be able to create a competitive machine.”

More recently, the car has been raced by Norwegian driver Camilla Antonsen, who claimed the North European Zone championship title last year.
