Silverstone Classic: Pre-63 GTs added to schedule

The Silverstone Classic will feature races for pre-1963 GT cars this year.

The event, which will take place on 24-26 July, has added races for the cars in the hope that a selection of rarely seen machinery will appear. The usual cut off for such races, including the Goodwood Revival Tourist Trophy, is 1966.

Historic racer Ben Cussons, who has been involved with establishing the race, told said: “The event gives owners an opportunity to race their car within a grid that more closely reflects the original racing models.”

A number of cars and owners have already confirmed their entries, including two famous Aston Martins, the ex-Equipe Endeavour DB4 GT and the unique Project DP212 (pictured).
