Sportscar veteran Andy Wallace will be back behind the wheel of a Jaguar Group C prototype at this year’s Silverstone Classic.
The 1988 Le Mans winner will team up with historic racing regular Justin Law in the XJR-12D which raced at the Daytona 24 Hours in 1993. The Bud Light sponsored, IMSA-spec machine features different aerodynamics compared to other V12 Jaguars.
The pair will take on a host of other Group C machines scheduled to make an appearance over the weekend of 25/26 July. Among those expected to compete are Andy Purdie and his Nissan R90C, the XJR-9 of Chris Buncome and Wayne Park and Rob Sherrard in the latter’s glorious Sauber Mercedes C9.
Wallace, who now spends most of his time in America contesting the Grand-Am series, was delighted to be returning to familiar stomping ground.
A win would be nice,” he told Autosport. “I don’t get to race in Europe much so it’s great to do this. It’s great to be driving with Justin too – he’s an underrated driver. It’ll be interesting to see what we can do.”
The two Group C races are part of a packed bill for this year’s event which features historic single seaters, sportscars and tin tops.
