SMC: Mortimer to return to Scottish Minis

Oly Mortimer will return to race in the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup this year.
 

The 26-year-old, a double UK Mini Challenge champion, had hoped to graduate to the British Touring Car Championship, but was thwarted by the collapse of the muted Formula Tanker Rental team.
 

He will now return to the Knockhill-based series, which he won in 2005 and 2006 before switching to the British championship, with the Tynecastle Garage team.
 

“People might look at this is a step backwards, but the Scottish series is great and it will be a tough season,” the Edinburgh-based driver told Motorsport News. “We decided it was the best way to keep my hand in.
 

“Nobody has won the Scottish title three times, so that’s my aim.”
