CAROTHERSNASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES

Logano dominates at Fontana

NASCAR Sprint Cup star Joey Logano enjoyed a dominant Nationwide Series outing at Auto Club Speedway to extend his Joe Gibbs Racing squad’s winning streak at the California venue.

The 21-year-old stock-car sensation scored pole position for the event and led on eight separate occasions en-route to his tenth career Nationwide victory. Logano headed the field for a total of 92 laps, including the final 12, for Gibb’s eighth successive triumph at the circuit.

"It's important to keep the streak going," said Logano afterwards. "You don't want to be the guy who didn't win it and broke the streak. “Obviously, it makes me work extra hard - not that we don't work hard any other weekend; we try to win every one of them - but to keep a streak going like that is important for our whole company."

Logano was followed home by Nationwide regular and reigning champ Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who earned his fourth top-six finish on the bounce to close the gap on points leader Elliott Sadler. Cup racer Brad Keselowski completed the podium.

Sadler continues to head the standings

Sadler continues to head the standings after scoring a ninth place finish in California. Rookie Austin Dillon sits third, behind Stenhouse, after another strong run saw him take fifth in Saturday's race. Trevor Bayne and Sam Hornish Jr. complete the championship top-five.

The Nationwide Series now takes a two-week break - the first time off the drivers have had since the season began in February - with action resuming at Texas Motor Speedway on April 13. Watch LIVE NASCAR Nationwide Series action on Motors TV throughout 2012
