Ma5da: MGA Motorsport plots 3-car MX-5 Cup assault

MGA Motorsport is set for a three-car campaign in Ma5da Racing’s new Mazda MX5 Cup in 2010.

The MX5 Cup, for newer Mk3 models, will run alongside the popular Ma5da MX5 Championship this season before launching as a standalone series in 2011.

MGA, which has previously run in the Ford Fiesta Championship as well as Radicals and the Britcar Production Championship, has already signed one driver in the form of ex-Britcar racer Peter Gillatt.

“Peter wanted a new Mk3 for trackdays and the plan came together from that,” MGA Motorsport owner Mike Gorton told Motorsport News.

“We are currently building two cars but have the facilities to run three if the demand is there. By getting involved early we can learn about the car ahead of the full championship kicking off in 2011.”
