LET: Imola date added for Lotus Elise Trophy

The Lotus Elise Trophy will visit Imola this season after being invited to join the WTCC race package at the famous circuit.

The British-based series will make its first trip to the Continent on 18-20 September where it will join forced with the Italian championship for a single 40-minute race at the San Marino-based circuit.

The move comes thanks to WTCC driver Stefano D’Aste, who also runs the Italian series. “Stefano offered us the chance to join them,” said series co-ordinator Paul Golding.

“Racing on European packages does wonders for the profile of this series considering that the Elise Trophy is only in its third year.

“Many of our competitors want to race at circuits of this quality in Europe and it’s fantastic to be able to offer them this opportunity. We expect to take between 15 and 20 cars.”
