Kershaw and Hall clinch Brands 1000kms win

Gavan Kershaw and Stuart Hall came out on top in the Lotus 1000km event at Brands Hatch last weekend after a race-long battle with GWS.

The Strattons-run Evora, amongst the favourites pre-race, was just three minutes clear entering the final hour when Jamie Stanley was forced to make an unscheduled stop in his Exige, ending the contest for outright victory.

That allowed Doug and Chris Setters, plus Chris Headlam to come home second in their Exige ahead of the leading Elise Trophy class entry, Witham Cars Japan’s Adam Bewsey, Dan Plant and Yuji Shinohara defeating LaHay racing’s John LaMaster, David Hay and Steve Williams by just seven seconds after more than eight hours of racing.

Both front-row starting cars saw their challenge fade early on. Porsche Carrera Cup front runner Nick Tandy underlined his pole pace by setting some blistering times before gear linkage issues cost several laps, while the Hofmann's Motorsport Europa retired early.

Last year’s winning entry, which included BTCC ace Paul O’Neil, didn’t even make it to the grid after a gearbox failure.
