Parfitt Jr set for Ginetta Challenge

Rick Parfitt Jr, son of the Status Quo rockstar of the same name, will make his full-time racing debut in the Ginetta Challenge this season in one of the Yorkshire-based manufacturer’s G40 race cars.

The 36-year-old, who is also a musician, has previously raced in karting and triumphed in the celebrity Abarth 500 GB race (pictured) at the Silverstone Classic last summer.

“I have wanted to race for ages but I have never had the opportunity or the budget until now,” the Londoner told Motorsport News.

“I won a celebrity Fiat Abarth race at Silverstone last year and that gave me the bug. I am not expecting to go out and win races, but I want to be competitive in the midfield.”
