CAROTHERSFIA TRUCK RACING

The FIA European Truck Championship is a ten round series run throughout Europe. All the major constructors are represented in the 26 truck field with MAN, Renault and Freightliner leading the way. The driving standards are worthy of FIA status and for the most part the drivers come from a car racing background and they battle hammer and tong in front of large and enthusiastic crowds and last years attendance numbers reached an impressive 700 000 for the year.

These 5.5 ton ‘Big Rigs’ have acceleration equal to many a GT with as much as 1200 bhp under the bonnet. And it is no surprise to find former world FIA GT champion, Jean-Philippe Belloc at the wheel of one of these mammoth but proper racing machines. It is no surprise either that they compete on such prestigious circuits as the Nurburgring Barcelona and the Le Mans Bugatti circuit. One thing is sure, during a truck racing meeting the ambiance is always fan friendly and the show never disappoints.
