CSMEC: Al Musalam and Elgammal share wins

Tarek Elgammal took his first Chevrolet Supercars Middle East Championship victory at the weekend, but Fahad Al Musalam extended his series lead.

Elgammal took his win in the weekend’s second race at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, narrowly beating Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Abdul Aziz Al Yaeesh to clinch victory.

“The best way forward for the remainder of the season is to keep winning races,” said the Australian. “Hopefully this first victory will help my gradual rise in the standings and I will continue to keep my focus on everything I have to do to stay consistent and get the best results in the remaining races.”

Elgammal now lies third in the overall standings, 13 points behind series’ leader Al Musalam who took his second win of the season in the opening race.

The defending champion got the better of pole sitter Elgammal early on and took a comfortable victory from Al Yaeesh and Al Khalifa. Elgammal suffered a technical problem during the race and could only manage sixth.
