
The British Truck Racing Championship has some of the largest vehicles in any race series due to the sheer size and weight of these speedy six-wheelers, with a minimum weight limit of 5500kgs.
The championship is divided into two classes ‘A’ and ‘B’ and held over 15 rounds at 7 venues (4 in Britain and 1 in Germany). The 22 teams taking part race trucks that comply with international regulations and are based on two axle road tractors with a minimum production of 50 units.
The majority of the grid use 12 litre turbocharged diesel engines tuned to produce in excess of 1000 horsepower but are limited to a maximum speed limit of 100mph (160km/h). From a rolling start - standing starts are not used in truck racing - a race truck is capable of out-accelerating a Porsche 911 up to 100mph.
