Legends: Higgins set for UK Legends outings

Triple British Rally Champion Mark Higgins will race in the CPC Legends Cars series in 2010.

Having contested three Legends races in 2009, Higgins has now purchased a car with the intention of racing in the CPC UK Legends Championship rounds that don’t clash with his rallying commitments.

Higgins, who had top-six finishes in his three races at Pembrey, said: “Legends racing is fantastic, there was a great atmosphere at the event, it's a great value for money championship & I absolutely loved it, even though I have a lot to learn.”

The news comes following the announcement that NASCAR driver and four-time World Legends Champion, John Mickel, would return to the UK series this year.

Reigning champion Lee Fitzpatrick is also set to defend his title in 2010, leaving series organiser Phil Cooper, more than encouraged about the strength of the 2010 entry.

“This really is shaping up as a great year for CPC Legends Cars,” he said. “To have drivers of the calibre of John and Mark choosing our series is testament to its appeal. It also fires up the regular drivers as they know they will need to stay at the top of their game. Let battle commence!”

The opening round of the 2010 season takes place at Oulton Park later this month.
