BCCC: Dilworth wins round 2

Tim Dilworth took round 2 of the Britpart MSA British Cross Country Championship at Radnor Forest at the weekend.

Dilworth and navigator Anthony Brinkman set their stall out early in the two-day event by winning the opening run of the six-mile course by six seconds from round 1 winner Richard Kershaw, in their Peugeot 206.

At the end of the first day they led by 16 seconds and pulled further clear on day 2 to take a 37 second victory.

The win was made even more satisfying after Dilworth struggled with numerous mechanical problems on previous events.

“It’s been a long time coming and it was nice to give Richard a run for his money,” he said. “I was at Higgins Rally School last weekend and the tuition seems to have paid off!”

Kershaw, driving his Peugeot 206 Evo9 maintained his championship lead by finishing second, despite a troubled weekend. “We had a difficult weekend and some problems with the car,” he confirmed. “It’s been a good weekend of racing though and a fantastic event on a good course.”

Third place went to a happy Dan Loftouse in the his eponymous Lofthouse Proto LD4, with Chris Hammond fourth in his Milner R5 and Martin Gould fifth in his Mattserati.

Bob Seaman took the Trophy Class in a Milner R4, with Dave Marsh winning the Clubman category in a QT Wildcat.
