ARCA: Karthikeyan heads for stock car test

Narain Karthikeyan will make his stock car debut in the ARCA Racing Series’ three day test at the Daytona International Speedway this weekend.

The former Jordan F1 driver will test for new squad Starbeast Motorsports which has formed a strategic technical partnership with JTG Daugherty Racing.

Karthikeyan raced 19 times for Jordan in his one and only season in the Formula One World Championship in 2005, posting a best finish of fourth in the USA GP at Indianapolis. He has since competed in a variety of series and last season represented his country in A1GP as well as racing a Kolles-run Audi R10 in the Le Mans Series and at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Indian racer will be joined by 2008 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion and GT racer Darryl O’Young, who will also participate in the test with the team. The Hong Kong-based driver finished third in PCCA this year and also contested the FIA GT championship and Le Mans 24 Hours in GT2 Porsches run by ProSpeed Competition and Endurance China team respectively this season.

More than 50 drivers, including IndyCar racers Danica Patrick and Milka Duno, are set to appear at the test which begins this Saturday (19 December).
