Porsche Supercup adds Abu Dahbi round

This year’s Porsche Supercup championship will conclude at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit, the series confirmed today, joining the Formula One support bill at the Emirati venue.

The 2011 campaign was set to end with the September 11 visit to Monza, but the addition of the Abu Dhabi event means that there will now be a two month gap between the Italian round and the season closer. It will be the Supercup’s second visit to Yas Marina, having been present at the venue’s maiden F1 weekend in 2009.

“Our teams look forward to returning to Abu Dhabi,” said Uwe Brettel, Porsche’s Head of Motorsport Sales. “We can offer our partners and sponsors a real highlight to conclude an exciting and interesting season.”

German Rene Rast currently leads the 2011 Supercup standings having taken the last four race wins in succession.
