PSC: Polish squad earns grid slot

Polish outfit VERVA Racing has earned a place on the Porsche Supercup grid for the 2010 season, which kicks off in Bahrain this weekend.

The newly-founded team, the first Polish squad to race in the F1-supporting series, will field rookies Robert Lukas and Kuba Giermaziak and will receive technical support from German outfit Motorpark Academy.

At 22 years of age, Lukas has a wealth of experience racing Porsches having competed in the German Porsche Carrera Cup since 2006. Giermaziak, 19, raced a Lamborghini Gallardo in the ADAC GT Masters last season alongside a single-seater campaign in the Formula Renault Eurocup and NEC.

The technical side of the team will be run by Motopark Academy’s Timo Rumpfkell, who has recruited an experienced crew led by Franke Funke, who was Rene Rast’s data engineer as he finished as runner-up in the Supercup last season.
