GT Open: Villois targetting Super GT with Aston Martin Vantage

Villois Racing is in discussions with Aston Martin to bring one of its Vantage GT2s to the International GT Open this season.

The reigning GTS champions are set to defend the title with their brace of DBRS9s in 2010 but haven’t ruled out stepping up into the Super GT category with a car that has seen extensive development in ALMS and LMS competition over the last two years.

Team owner and manager Chicco Villois was bullish about his team’s chances of running a car in the series, provided the right backing and driver talent could be found.

"We have always been interested in the GT2 project", he said. "I believe the new GT2 can be very competitive in the GT Open and if the conditions are right to enter a car with good drivers and sufficient backing, we would definitely be ready to run one".
