GT Open: Toccacelo to race EdilCris Ferrari

A1GP race-winner Enrico Toccacelo will race an EdilCris Ferrari in the International GT Open this season.

The 31-year-old Italian, who has also competed in F3, F3000 and World Series by Renault, joins GT Open regular Raffaele Giammaria in one of the former champion team’s Ferrari 430s that will enter the Super GT category.

Toccacelo has previous GT racing experience after competing in six FIA GT Championship events with Aston Martin Racing BMS in 2007. However, he hasn’t driven competitively since representing AS Roma in Superleague Formula in 2008.

“After a sabbatical year, I am very happy of the opportunity that EdilCris is giving me,” said Toccacelo, who also tested in F1 for Minardi. “The entire team is aiming to give our best.”

Giammaria, who is a race instructor alongside Toccacelo at the Italian federation’s race school, finished seventh in the GT Open with co-driver Alessandro Bonetti last season and is now targeting race wins.

“I am convinced that, together with my friend and colleague Enrico, we can do a great job and aim for victory.”
