GT Open: Brinkmann Motorsport to field Audi R8

Brinkmann Motorsport has announced plans to field an Audi R8 in this season’s International GT Open.

The German squad, based in Essen and owned by former racer Olly Brinkmann (pictured), has a fine pedigree racing in various GT categories across northern Europe and has won three titles in three years in the Dutch Supercar Challenge (DSC).

The team confirmed that it will field a single R8 in the GTS class of the pan-European GT Open series. Dutchmen Siebrand Dijkstra and Arjan van der Zwaan have been named as the team’s drivers.

Dijkstra, 41, has experience in the DSC, Lamborghini Super Trofeo and, this winter, in the Sportscar Winter Series where he raced a GT2 Ferrari 430 for JMB Racing. Van der Zwaan, 42, raced alongside Dijkstra with JMB and in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and also has experience in the DSC, Belgian GT Championship and FIA GTs.
