GT4 European Cup grid building

The entry list for the 2011 GT4 European Cup is steadily building with several new and existing teams pledging their support for the SRO-run championship ahead of the opening round of the season at Zandvoort next month.

With Ginetta having enjoyed much success at GT4 level in recent years, several squads have signed up for the European Cup, taking advantage of the British manufacturer’s initiative that sees Ginetta paying for the first six teams’ entry fees.

Austrian squad Renauer Motorsport and Czech outfit GTR CZ have both committed to the series with Ginetta G50s, while another car, from an as-yet unnamed British team, is also set to confirm an entry shortly.

Scuderia Giudici, which won the Supersport title in 2010, will step up to the main GT4 class this year with a pair of Lotus Evoras, a car that made an impressive debut in the series at the end of last season. The Italian team is also set to defend its Supersport title with at least one Lotus 2-Eleven.

Generation AMR has already confirmed its plans to run a brand new Aston Martin GT4, with several other entries for the iconic British marque also set to be confirmed, including one from Rhesus Racing, which took the title with Paul Meijer last year.

Maserati are also set to be represented on the grid with an unnamed French team, with several others also considering entries for the Granturismo MC GT4, while Italian squad Star Cars will also return as they continue the development of the Porsche Cayman.

Alongside Scuderia Giudici’s Lotus 2-Elevens in the Supersport class, ABG Motorsport is also set to enter the category with a KTM X-Bow previously raced by Anathasios Ladas.

With three rounds in Holland this year and two more in Belgium, grids are also set to be boosted in 2011 thanks to several shared events with the thriving Dutch GT4 Championship.
