Further to the success of the GT3 category, combining the technical homologation per model, the balance of performance and an innovative Cup of Cups concept, the SRO Motorsports Group organised the GT4 European Cup in 2007, aimed at large-production cars with a lower weight/power ratio.
It has become clear that the GT4 category could also become a perfect compliment to the GT3 cars now competing in many national championships, as an entry-level second category. For 2008, the category will be integrated into the British GT Championship and the Belcar Series, likely to expand to the German and French national series the following year.
GT4 will be divided into two classes and will include the following cars that are ready for homologation :
GT4 : Aston Martin N24 ; BMW Z4 ; Ford Mustang FR500 GT4 ; Lotus Exige ; Maserati Trofeo ; Nissan 350 Z ; Opel GT ; Porsche Cayman
Sports Light :Ginetta G50 ; 2/Eleven Lotus ; Donkervoort D8 GT ; KTM X-Bow
