Larbre confirm FFSA GT title defence

Larbre Competition has confirmed that it will defend its FFSA GT Championship title in 2011 with a single Porsche 911 GT3 R for reigning champions Patrick Bornhauser and Laurent Groppi.

The French team secured last year’s crown at the final round of the season, despite missing an event earlier in the year, and team boss Jack Leconte is confident that his squad can challenge again, despite increased competition from Audi, Mercedes and Corvette.

“We had a fantastic 2010 season with four titles in the Le Mans 24 Hours, ILMC, Le Mans Series and French GT Championship,” said Leconte. “Historically, Larbre Competition likes to race in France as the competition is of such a high level.

“The 2010 season wasn’t easy, but with the new promoters in Oreca and the GT Tour package, we are pleased to embark on this new challenge.

“With the help of Porsche and our faithful partners, Patrick Bornhauser and Laurent Groppi are very motivated and our goal is the title.

“The arrival of new cars and a new race format has added some spice the series and strategy will become even more important. Hopefully our experience will help us this season.”

The opening round of the 2011 season takes place this weekend at Ledenon.
