Hexis AMR confirms GT1 driver line-up

Hexis AMR has announced its four drivers for this year’s FIA GT1 World Championship, as the French outfit looks to improve on its runner-up spot in last year’s standings.

The team will retain Clivio Piccione from its 2010 squad and will pair the Monegasque driver with Dutchman Stef Dusseldorp, who makes the switch the GT racing having finished fourth in the German-based ADAC Formel 3 Cup last year.

Hexis’ second Aston Martin DBR9 will be shared by reigning FIA GT3 European Champion Christian Hohenadel and experienced Italian Andrea Piccini, who was a race winner in GT1 last year in a Corvette.

“We’re proud to announce two complete driver line-ups so early in the season,” said Hexis AMR team manager Philippe Dumas. “It confirms our sense of team spirit, and shows that we firmly believe in the future of this world championship.

“Clivio did the first shakedown yesterday at Lédenon. Stef will be with him this Tuesday, and we’ll put Christian and Andrea in the car at the end of the week.

“Stéphane Ratel and the whole SRO team have worked very hard to make the second year of the championship a big success. In the wake of our encouraging results in 2010, it’s clear that we’re tackling this new challenge with greater ambitions.”
