DSC: Short sidelined after football injury!

Dutch Supercar Challenge and British GT racer Martin Short is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering several broken bones playing football.

The Mosler driver, who had a race win in the opening round of the DSC at Silverstone earlier this month, was injured in a ‘friendly’ kickabout with his son, Marcus, after his flight home from a family holiday in Spain was cancelled amid the Icelandic volcanic ash crisis.

After a nasty fall, Short required surgery to repair a broken wrist and has had an arm extender screwed into his arm to hold his hand in place to ensure it repairs correctly. He also suffered damage to his kneecap and is currently sporting a reinforced leg brace.

While the arm extender is set to be removed this week, Short is rated as very doubtful to take part in the next two rounds of the Dutch Supercar Challenge at the Nurburgring on 2 May and Assen two weeks later and he will also miss the British GT Championship’s visit to Knockhill the week in between.
