DSC: BMWs on top at Zandvoort



BMWs dominated the overall classification as the Supersport II and Sport 1 classes of the Dutch Supercar Challenge visited Zandvoort at the weekend.

The BMW 130I of Powermotorsports duo John van der Voort and Peter Claassen took victory in race 1 with the 132 GTR of JR Motorsport’s Pieter van Soelen winning race 2. Koen Bogaerts and Nik de Jong shared their European Talents Racing BMW E36 M3 to both Sport I class wins.

Race 1 saw van der Voort and Claassen engaged in an epic battle with the unique Saker Sportscar GT of shared by Bob Herber and Milko Tas, the Brax Racing pair crossing the finish line just 0.365 seconds behind the BMW in the hour-long race.

Martin Roos’ Red Motorsport Lotus Exige finished third ahead of Luc de Cock in the Dlediche Racing Lotus 2 Eleven in fourth and Piet Versluis in fifth in the SBD Racing KTM X-Bow.

Rob Nieman’s Spirit Racing Renault Clio RS 2.0 finished second in the Sport I category behind ETR BMW, with the Lotus Exige Cup shared by Eline Braspenning and Iman van Schelven in third.

Race 2 saw a more comfortable win for van Soelen, who retired from race 1. He headed Versluis’ KTM X-Bow by 11 seconds. Herber and Tas finished third in the Saker with the BMW E46 shared by Richard van den Bos and Bert van der Zweerde in fourth and van der Voort / Claassen fifth.

While Bogaerts and de Jong again to a comfortable Sport I win, Laurens de Wit (BMW 130i) took a fine second place with Frenchman Guillaume Schultz in third in the Team TDM Lotus Exige.

Britain’s Fiona James, driving a GT4-spec In2Racing Ginetta G50 had a strong weekend with two eighth places in the Supersport II category.

Latest News Dutch Supercar Challenge

The Zero R Racing Corvette CR6 GT1 of Dave Basu and the Race 4 Slovakia Attack Praga R4 of Martin Sedlak and Dick Kvetnansku shared the race wins as the Dutch Supercar Challenge supported Superleague Formula at Assen last weekend.

The Dutch Supercar Challenge proved to be another hit with British fans at the weekend as the eclectic sports car series visited Donington Park for four races across the GT, Supersport I, Supersport II and Sport classes.

A bumper entry of 73 cars will take to the track at Donington Park this weekend as the Dutch Supercar Challenge makes its annual trip across the channel for its only UK round of the season.

Ferry and Robin Monster won the opening race of the Dutch Supercar Challenge’s Supersport II Division at Zandvoort last weekend with European Staffing Racing’s Koen Bogaerts and Mark van der Aa triumphing in race 2.

A bumper grid of 47 cars will head to Zandvoort this weekend as the Supersport II and Sport classes begin their seasons in the Dutch Supercar Challenge.
