Brit GT: Vantage Racing withdraw after Mosler ruling

British GT Championship newcomer Vantage Racing has withdrawn from the series before the 2010 season has even started.

The Sussex-based team had planned to run an Aston Martin DBRS9 for team owner Tom Black and sports car racer Stuart Hall in the GT3 category and a Vantage N24 in the GT4 class, but has abandoned its graduation from Britcar, blaming the decision of series organiser SRO to re-instate the Mosler MT900 in the championship.

“Although there are always a number of reasons for such a decision, the main one is that there appeared to be a private meeting which decided that Mosler should be allowed to compete,” the team’s chief advisor Hugh Chamberlain told www.dailysportscar.com. “This decision is unacceptable to us.”

"I am aware that if properly policed there is no more problem with the Mosler than an Ascari or a Ginetta. However, we knew about the others before we made the decision to compete or not, then the Mosler came in under the radar. What would the SRO have a meeting about tomorrow? It is obvious to me that the SRO were under pressure to re-instate the Mosler but I don’t know what else is waiting in the wings. A Caparo GT perhaps!

"Last year we raced with an N24 Aston in the Britcar series and found that during the weekend the organizers changed the classes so that we were racing against un-policed G50’s et al. I just thought the SRO might be more professional."
