Brit GT: Barwell to run Aston Martin DBRS9

Former British GT Championship-winning team Barwell Motorsport will again run an Aston Martin DBRS9 in the series this season.

The Surrey-based team has linked up with experienced GT racer, Paul Whight, to run his DBRS9 in selected British GT rounds and will also compete in the Spanish and French championships. The team will compete under the Barwell-Cadena banner.

Whight, whose Cadena Motorsport outfit won the British GT teams’ title in 2006, will share the DBRS9 with Michael Bentwood, with the pair beginning their 2010 campaign in the opening round of the season at Oulton Park on Easter Weekend.

The car has already been upgraded to 2010 specifications and Bentwood enjoyed a shakedown test at Silverstone last week. The team will now head to Portugal for a two-day tyre test at the Algarve Circuit.

Barwell-Cadena will also run Whight’s AMR1 sports car prototype in the Portimao, Spa and Paul Ricard rounds of the Group C/GTP series this year.
